In this class we were asked to style a bag, that we carried to class with us. We clicked pictures and edited them appropriately. We were split into groups of two, so that we could help each other. I was partnered with my friends, Natara. It was quite fun and was actually my first class on campus.
Here are a few questions I’d like to answer:
How did you experiment with different ideas in your styling choices?
Answer- Before I came to class I picked out a bag I’d like to use, after that I simply built an outfit around the bag. I tried to imagine the vibe/aesthetic of the bag and matched it with clothes I owned. After shortlisting a few outfits, I narrowed it down to the outfit I used in the photographs. I tried to find a top that best complimented the purple of the bag. I also wanted to make sure the outfit was preppy ad elegant at the same time, that was just what I felt suited it best.
How did you go about making suggestions for changes?
Answer- While working with my partner, I realised that her pictures would look better in a dark area with flash, and 0.5x lens. She respected ad suggestion and let me try it out. The pictures looked great and made her bag stand out more! She also made suggestions that helped me improve my stance ad poses.
What did you do when outcomes might have been different from your expectations?
Answer- Almost all my outcomes were different from my expectations, I initially imagined doing a really bright shoot out in the sun, next to the grass and flowers. But ended up doing a really eerie shoot inside the Limegrove building near the staircase. Even the editing was not what I envisioned in the beginning, afterwards the entire shoot was more dreamy and melancholic, I was actually quite happy with the pictures.
